This is a forum for anyone wishing to talk about ClickIt!, Pixel and Grain or photography in general. This was our first international competition and we do hope to repeat some aspects of it next year.....possibly just focusing on the photo-essay element.
Pixel and Grain Gallery is open to anyone who wishes to submit work - usually to a standard size of around 12 x 18 inch high quality prints. Although we are looking booked well into 2008.

Perhaps for me the thing that most strikes me as someone who has now seen a lot of images on the web and those same images now in print - we printed out 86 images to make the final judgement of the competition - is the complete turnaround of appreciation that can occur from backlit web size to having the 'finished product' in front of you. In some cases really quite amazing transformations of thought and appreciation.
If you came to this forum by other means the exhibition can be seen at:

Both websites are really 'reporting' sites as opposed to presentational - this is important to take into account because there are some excellent presentational sites around.

As a retired professional photographer looking to produce photo essays and the like, I have at long last got around to seeing what Charnwood Arts are up to re photography.
Excuse my ignorance/stupidity but your web site does not seem to fully indicate what might or might not be facilitated by your good selves. And given the seeming lack of replies to this forum should I assume there is little or no interest in devloping photography as an art form in Charnwood? _________________ Mike Frost |

Hi Mike
I am always interested in meeting up or having a dialogue through any other means with people who are interested in photography or how they might engage with things that Charnwood Arts are or could be doing.
Our regular exhibitions at Loughborough Town Hall and the competition Anthony mentioned are one aspect of the work but we also engage in photographic projects and workshops, document our other work through photography and develop publications which liberally use photography too!
There are so many 'photographic service' forums out there it's little surprise this one really didn't go anywhere very fast - but I am patient and at least you and Anthony communicated...and now me too!
Please don't hesitate to get in touch - the production of photographic essays is something which interests me very much.
Are you aware of the forthcoming Format Festival in Derby?
best wishes Kevin _________________ If you're breathing creativity is still a birthright!
